Are there any books, etc. that teach interracial Little girls how to manage their hair?

I know an 11yo girl who is half white/half black. She lives in Germany with an all white family %26amp; all white community. She has beautiful hair that most would kill for, except - she has no idea how to style or take care of it - she never has, %26amp; theres no one around her to help her. She hates her hair, is embarassed about it %26amp; for years has been sad %26amp; wished she had straight, "white" girls hair. Her hair type is THICK %26amp; SUPER kinky %26amp; with some guidance she could grow to love %26amp; appreciate what she has. ANY help that I could pass on to her would be soooooo wonderful, THANX!

Here is a website I found that would be good. Deals specifically with biracial hair and helps white people learn how to work with it.

Here's links to two books directed to parents about Black hair:

Here's another book:

I didn't really see any books for her age group which made me sad. There were storybooks for kids younger than her about being biracial in a family, loving your hair and your skin, and stuff like that. There was one hair book for kids and adults but it didn't get good reviews. And there were books for adults about adopting biracial children or international children, and ways to make sure the child grows up to love who they are and not feel outcast.

I really encourage her to have her mom read the books with her and to work on her hair together. It is a mother-daughter tradition for the mom to do the daughter's hair, not matter what the texture is. It'll be something they can learn about together.

I wish this little girl lots of luck, and I pray that those around her realize that she needs more care and attention so that she does not grow up to hate the things that make her uniquely her!

I think you have the wrong section, just because this is the gay section doesnt mean every person is a hairdresser......
