Here is a picture of my hair......it is very "slick" and hard to keep up when I wear up-do

It just falls out of the style....I don't know what to do with it. And, you can't tell by the picture but my hair is real long (a little past the middle of my back). Thanks for the help.

Sorry for the big black spot, but I didn't feel like revealing myself to all on the Internet, lol.

As gross as it sounds, dirty hair holds best. When it's freshly shampooed it can be too slippery to stay in any kind of style. Hair that hasn't been washed in a day or two is easier to put up (and stay up) because of the natural oils in it.

If you absolutely can't stand the thought of not washing your hair for a couple days, after you wash it, put alot of product in it BEFORE you put it up. Some sculpting wax (not to much though as this can make your hair greasy) and some good hairspray (that wont make your hair hard as a rock) should help to hold an updo better. Also, you might want to try putting mousse on towel dried hair before you blowdry it.

Have you tried bobby pins to help hold it in place?

try putting it up, then using a product like freeze it (made by aussie, comes in a big purple can, you can get it at most stores in the hairspray section). this product is awesome at holding your hair, just be sure to use a clarifying shampoo when you wash it out because it tends to leave a lot of residue.

i have a similar problem... my hair is almost at my waist. the thing is, that makes our hair heavy and along with it being so smooth, it falls out of the bobby pins a lot faster. The only way i can get my hair up is with a LOT of product. Strong hair sprays are the besT... AND a curling iron that does tighter curls. There's no way it'll stay up in a straight up-do. Like i said... make sure you have a lot of hair spray in it, and curls, it'll give the bobby pins something to grip that way they dont just slide out. Good luck!!

u will need to 'rough up ur hair' before u start an updo on anyone, especially people with hair like urs. all that means is when u kno ur gonna need an updo, shampoo ur hair the day before and when its wet, apply some mouse or gel and let it dry. then when u do ur updo spray some hair spray all over just to make it less slick as u say. that will make it easier for ur hair to hold

try adding some hair grease or hair wax to your hair...thats what my hair stylist did when i had my hair done for proms.

Oh, no, it's a bank robbery!!!

Sorry, just kidding!

Actually, the term for your hair's texture is "slippery". It shines beautifully, but if you want to have an updo, you're not going to have much success. Perhaps putting in some product before attempting an updo might get it to hold better.
