How can I keep my emo/scene style without looking completely steroptypical?

I have a emo/scene style now, but I'm starting to think it's a little bit too stereotypical emo. I want to be different, that the reason why I dress the way I do, but now all these posers are coming along and making my style just look, well normal and sterotypical! How can I modify my look just a little but still fit into the emo/scene catagory?

Presently, I wear black as my main color, with bits of neon colors. I have black hair with bangs and its very choppy and layered (I want to streak it, or color the tips but my school doesnt allow it). I wear skinny jeans or dark jeans or sometimes like black pants but in a more skater type style. I wear converse, vans, ballet flats or "skater sneakers" as they call them where I live - the type that kind of look really puffy and big. I usually wear either tank tops or t-shirts and a hoodie. I wear a lot of black eyeliner with grey and black eyeshadow as well. I also like to add things like knee socks or wrist warmers to my outfit. Any ideas?

My friend you are different now don't take this the wrong way. You need to understand anyone can dress up cothes and seem different but it's the way you think that truly make you different. Just thinking you want to be different makes you diffrent. Don't you see that? What your really saying to me is, "How I can I be diffrent from everyone else so everyone else notices that I'm diffrent and not like them. Otherwise why would you want to look different. Agin how many people can change the way they think? Anyone can change their hairstyle, their clothes, their shoes, their shirts, their jeans, etc.... don't you understand? But I'm sure your just going to ignore my answer and my advice and just go with whoever said the most different clothing... go ahead.

You could try being yourself and not try to find your spot in the emo/scene style. Perhaps this "is you" but you said you want to be different. You could dress nice but have your own amazing style that would truly be unique.

The 30's had swingers. The 70's had punks. The 80's had rockers.

And now, unfortunately, the late 90's and 2000's have emos.

You're all the same, the rebel thing has been done for centuries.

Why don't you make your outfit more feminine? Add jewelry and accessories. Change your black make up to maybe a dark brown or purple.

if you dont have the emo feeloings your not emo. your just a try hard. i dont care if you block me for my opinion but this is it: if you wana be try hard emo go for it

but until your depressed and cut yourself and have emtional issue

you are not emo.

people know your not stereotypical if you dressed that way before. therefore you dont need to change

Wear whatever you like. Don't let what others do dictate your own style. You know you're different, and it's the attitude that makes the person, not necessarily the clothes.

Or you could kick all the posers in the kneecaps.
